Remote Wine Industry Jobs: What's Actually Out There
Most winery work is on-site by nature, but a real and growing set of wine industry roles are fully remote. Here's where they are.
Making wine, pouring it, and farming the grapes all happen in a specific place, so the majority of winery jobs are on-site. But the wine business is bigger than the winery itself, and several categories of role are routinely done from home, often because the work covers a wide geography that no single office could serve.
Where Remote Wine Jobs Concentrate
- Territory sales and account management: district managers, regional managers, and key account managers for wineries, importers, and distributors work from a home office and cover a state or multi-state region. This is the single largest category of remote wine industry work.
- Marketing, brand, and e-commerce: brand managers, digital marketers, and DTC/e-commerce roles at larger wine companies are frequently remote or hybrid, since the work is done on a laptop.
- Corporate and back-office functions: finance, IT, HR, data, and analytics roles at multi-brand wine companies increasingly hire remote-first.
- Wine writing, education, and content: a smaller freelance and staff market for tasting notes, courses, and editorial.
What "Remote" Usually Means Here
Read the working-arrangement section of any posting carefully. A genuinely remote role says so plainly ("this is a remote position," "home-based," "work from anywhere in the US"). Many postings that mention remote work are actually hybrid, for example in-office several days a week with one work-from-home day, which is a different thing. Territory sales roles are usually home-based but involve heavy travel within the region, so "remote" there means "no office to report to," not "work from your couch."
How to Search
Filter for remote listings directly, and also search sales and marketing roles at national wine importers and distributors, since those job descriptions often specify a home-based arrangement even when the listing is tagged to a city. Larger employers (national portfolios, importers, big-brand wineries) post far more remote roles than small estates.
