SAFETY COORDINATOR
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general direction, the Safety Coordinator plans, conducts, and evaluates the safety program to promote a safe working environment and supports the day-to-day administration of workplace safety and injury prevention at Wilson Creek Winery. This position conducts inspections, coordinates training, assists in investigating workplace incidents, tracks corrective actions, and assists with compliance with applicable occupational safety requirements/Cal-OSHA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties represent the core responsibilities of the Safety Coordinator. Other related duties may be assigned consistent with the nature of this role.
• Conduct routine workplace safety inspections, document hazards, and track corrective actions through completion.
• Investigate employee injuries, near misses, and workplace safety incidents; document findings and coordinate follow-up.
• Coordinate reporting and documentation follow-up with the Senior HRBP and Director of HR.
• Assist with administration and ongoing improvement of the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
• Support the Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP), including assessments, incident records, employee training, and corrective actions.
• Assist in coordinating and delivering safety training during new hire orientation and recurring employee and supervisor training.
• Recommend practical changes to reduce workplace injury risks.
• Maintain safety inspection logs, training records, incident reports, and other required documentation.
• Support compliance with applicable Cal-OSHA requirements, including hazard communication, emergency procedures, and lockout/tagout programs.
• Partner with department managers and Facilities to address safety concerns and reinforce safe work practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field preferred; recognized occupational safety certificate; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred.
• At least one (1) year of related safety, HR, or workers’ compensation experience recommended; three (3) or more years preferred.
• Knowledge of California workplace safety practices and Cal-OSHA requirements preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to maintain safety records and management systems.
• Strong written communication, organization, confidentiality, and follow-through skills.
• Valid California driver’s license required.

This position works in office, winery production, warehouse, hospitality, kitchen, and outdoor vineyard environments. Duties require walking and standing during inspections, occasional bending, reaching, and use of computers and office equipment. The employee may encounter noise, moving equipment, uneven surfaces, weather variations, and other workplace hazards while following established safety procedures. Occasional lifting and moving of materials up to 50 pounds may be required.
