The Job
The Warehouse Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operation and maintenance of the warehouse for the assigned shift. This position is responsible for the overall success of the shift operations by focusing on employee productivity, performance, safety, and being able to redeploy resources based on daily demands of while adherence to company policies and standards. Working side by side with employees to tackle backlog and lack of resources is a must.
Job Functions:
• Supervise employees in their respective jobs, assign workloads, evaluate performance annually, approve employee timecards, and initiate employee changes in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and performance management processes. • Direct training programs within the department to ensure employees are properly trained and any necessary retraining occurs • Perform opening/closing activities of warehouse as keyholder • Monitor employee productivity by providing useful feedback and training. Participate in annual performance review process. • Ensure proper communication between employees and management is maintained • Review productivity, KPI’s, and quality reports to ensure the department is meeting pre-established targets and take necessary steps to get the department back on track when targets are not being met. • Handle customer issues that might escalate and require a supervisor for management • Work closely with management and HR concerning activities impacting shift employees • Consult with management on maintenance issues and changes in processes • Collaborate with other shift supervisors and departments to ensure maximum results • Recommend changes in equipment/workforce requirements necessary to meet current demands, to improve quality and lower operating costs, facilitate safety, fire protection, and housekeeping programs are observed • Investigate accidents which might occur to ensure the health and welfare of employees • Participate in company sponsored and self-development programs, facilitate employee team meetings while providing guidance and support to employees • Work side by side employees to tackle backlog and lack of resources
Requirements
• High school diploma or GED required. • Bachelors’ Degree in Business or Related Field Preferred. • Degree in business, management, logistics or a related field preferred. • Strong working knowledge of warehouse operations and management.• • Previous experience as a warehouse supervisor or a similar leadership position. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry software. • Time management skills and the ability to delegate. • Excellent leadership and organizational skills. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift, bend, & stoop when required and stand for extended periods
• Occasional heavy lifting up to 40 pounds
• Ability to work in front of a laptop or PC workstation for extended periods of time
Work Environment
The environment is typical of a cool storage atmosphere, maintained 55-60 degrees in facilities Core Hours: 7:00 am- 3:30 pm Monday-Thursday, Saturday 8:30 am -5:30 pm
